We bet you didn’t know that Bamboo is a magical plant? OK, it’s not really - it's grass, not a tree. Under the right conditions, it can grow a whole full meter in just a day — you can literally watch it grow (seriously)! It is also fast maturing. A new bamboo plant is mature enough to harvest after three to six years, depending on the species.
Most importantly, bamboo is a renewable resource. Unlike hardwood trees, bamboo regrows after harvesting, just like grass regrows after cutting. After it is mature, bamboo can be harvested every single year for the life of the plant, talk about sustainable power!
Bamboo has a slew of other advantages too - the roots grab onto soil and hold it fast, which prevents mudslides and erosion in some countries. And both Bamboo and charcoal made from bamboo burns much more efficiently and cleaner - making for cleaner, healthier air quality.
We think the top benefit of Bamboo is the ability to be harvested to make durable goods and be greener for it, as opposed to not using it.
